Over (A Poem)

Something woke up in me today

A burst of life exploded

Death of any kind no longer has a place

Something woke up in me today

Life stood up in me today

Stood up so tall it towered over me

I looked up and saw a clearance in the clouds

Saw the storms roll past

Heard the thunder move on

An old season has passed

Passed right over me

I only see it in the distance now

Light stretched out wide in me today

Stretched itself out over me

Tall and wide like the earth

It stretched out around me

Made itself a world around me

Pushed the old world out

An old world has passed

Passed right over me

I only see it in the distance now

Distance now between where I am and where I was

Distance now between my yes’s and my no’s

Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen

I heard an angel sing

Song new life into the depths of me

Deep within me found a river flowing

Something’s flowing

Flowing, flowing, flowing

It’s washing away what’s no longer needed

It’s watering what needs supernatural growth

It’s quenching dry spaces

A river has formed in my desert

Never going to see that dry world again

Something woke up in me today

A burst of life exploded

Death of any kind no longer has a place

An old season has passed

It passed right over me
