A Letter on Grace

GRACE: the freely given and unmerited favor and love of God and the bestowal of blessings.

Listen, I know that you really want to please God. I know that you really want to be right and have it all together. I know that you think this is what makes you a “good Christian” , whatever that is, but you are working to prove yourself to a God who has already accepted you, just the way you are. There is nothing that you can do to make Him love you anymore or any less than He does right now. It’s natural for us to want to please God and we should want to please Him. He’s amazing. However when we start to work for His love, we are on dangerous territory. As human as we are we’ll never be perfect examples of Christ though we strive for it everyday. The only reason God gave us a Christ is because we needed redemption and we couldn’t pay the cost of it ourselves. We all have things that we struggle with. All of us. Even the ones that you see out here looking all glittery with their big church talk, church hats and deep ministry quotes. Everything thing that glitters ain’t…you know the rest. Girl everybody’s got something that would cause us to miss the mark. These things should be what connects us. It’s the experience of being an imperfect person while loving a perfect God. This perfect God has Grace for us and adores us in spite of our shortcomings. Actually its people that have had the most flaws that God has used to do the miraculous.

1 Corinthians 1:27

Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

He loves to take our ashes and create beauty in our lives.  Be a little easier on yourself. Love on yourself a little better. Don’t waste your days hustling for perfection. Learn to enjoy yourself as you are right now. You’re as perfect as you’ll ever be in His eyes. When we lean into Him and become dependent upon His strength we become more and do more with less effort. Surrender to His love. Surrender to His peace. Free yourself from the frustration of trying to have it all together and embrace the Grace thats flowing to you. It’s so beautiful to be in a relationship with someone who’s love you do not have to work for.
